It’s Been A While

Hello everyone,

As most of you know, my father passed away in December. I want to thank everyone who has reached out to me or has offered kind words and support. It meant a lot to me. I don’t feel like writing about it right now. I’ve got many personal journal entries about everything. Needless to say, I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

What I’ve been up to lately

Summer Holiday

I just got back from the beautiful Neutral Zone (Idaho/Wyoming), and it was a nice break from everything, especially the sauna-esque humidity we’ve been having lately. 90 degrees is a mild ball game compared to 90 degrees here.

Migrated Blog

As you’ve probably seen by the sprinkling of blank images here and there, I’ve moved my blog to godaddy. The previous host was agonizingly slow. It was almost unusable if you wanted to post anything, especially anything involving images. If you’re wondering why the last time I posted was last year, that was the main reason. So far so good here at godaddy! The new url from my blog is clubhighcastle.com…but you knew that because you’re here!

Silo Series

I recently watched Silo on Apple TV, and WOW. Just wow. Fantastic story telling, characters, and world building. I couldn’t wait two years to find out what happens next, so I put my Amazon digital credits to buy kindle versions of the trilogy. I just finished Shift (book 2). I highly recommend these books!

Don’t be daunted by the 500+ page count. It didn’t feel that long, and I ripped through Wool and Shift! I’m prolonging the adventure by taking a break before I start Dust. I don’t want the adventure to end just yet!

Flying. Lots and lots of flying

I flew so much in 2022, I obtained Silver status with Delta (I’m nearly qualifying for it for 2024!). I love everything about it to be honest. You don’t have to pay extra for ‘preferred seating’ in the main cabin, and if you get lucky or fly at unpopular times like I do, you’ll get free upgrades to Comfot + (business class) or First. It also gives you and anyone traveling with you free bags. I don’t want to lose it, so I need to figure out one last trip before the year ends. This has been something that has always been on my bucket list, and I am so happy I finally got it!

July Update

Sisters
I finished the first wave of revisions! I will get through this, gosh darn it. Now it’s time to go back and look at the story as a whole. There were some things I missed in the beginning—The early chapters had everyone sporting their universe’s version of the iPhone 6.

The year is 2002, and that is a big nope! They should be struggling with flip phones. I mean, back in the day, if you wanted to text an s, you had to hit that button four times!

I’m hoping that my zeal for editing the early chapters over and over again when I started the project will make this a lot easier. And no, I couldn’t hold onto that editing obsession as the story progressed. It was a great idea, but I grew too impatient and just wanted to write.

As I’ve stated before, when it comes to editing, I have the attention span of a gnat…even that is being too generous because there is my eternal battle with insomnia. If I didn’t get any sleep the night before, you can forget it. I have way too many instances of insomnia to revise as quickly as I’d like to (especially between work and my other duties). Insomnia sucks, and I wouldn’t wish this constant battle on anyone!

Here’s to the second round of editing and revisions!

Hashtag Update

I am happy to say that I’ve completed Sisters! *Sheds a tear* This story has been near and dear to my heart ever since I started writing it. And now comes the hard part…

Revision.

Let’s just say that I have the attention span of a gnat when it comes to editing pages and pages of writing.  I’m pacing myself and doing it in increments, but the draw back to doing it in increments is time. If I let more than a week go by without cracking it open for an edit, I forget what’s going on (life has a funny way of shoving itself past your hobbies).

Here’s to chugging through the first round of revisions!

And because I can’t do a blog post without mentioning the Man in the High Castle…clever transition of topic because yeah!

I’ve migrated everything downstairs to my Project Grasshopper shelf. ♥ I’ve hung the alternate reality NYC painting I did (finally!) above it and started a sister painting for the Pacific States!

There are a few things I want to tweak and add to the shelf (especially for the Pacific States. Their poor section is completely bare even though they have a million dolls ♥ ). The Reich section is the exact opposite; they have the Smiths and Joe dolls, but they’ve got a lot of stuff.

I plan to paint a few more Reich dolls and get/make some Pacific-Japanese themed items in the near future.

As always follow me on Twitter and Instagram for my latest Sisters and High Castle stuff!

Sisters Progress Update

I finished writing the first half of Sisters! Parts Zero (Innocence) and One (Survival) are done. Now comes the most difficult part of their lives yet.

Part Two’s theme is destiny. Allegiances are made and loyalties are tested. I am looking forward to powering through this section. If Innocence and Survival gave me FEELS, I can only imagine how Destiny is going to be!

Work Zone: All Systems Ignite!

T-Minus 3 Days and counting!

My website will launch and take off into the Interwebs on the first day of my favorite month of the year, October!

I’ve added a countdown to this blog because I’m excited! You should be too!

I’ll be doing a giveaway to celebrate the release of The Emperor’s Archives (formerly known as Beneath the Red Lamp and Other Tales). Don’t tell the emperor, but one of the prizes is an Amazon gift card.

All systems are running on high octane as I complete the final stage of getting The Emperor’s Archives ready. I’m on the dreaded copy editing phase.

I won’t have a release date until I finish copy editing. This is because I don’t like giving out solid dates when I’m still in the process of doing something huge.

As soon as I finish this monster task, I will announce a date and open the giveaway!
