Knitting into 2013, psychic cops included

Knitting with my looms is relaxing and rewarding because I can finish projects at a decent pace (except for scarves. Scarves bore me to tears!). On the surface, the circular and rectangular pegged looms look dull and lifeless, promising only hats and scarves.

One only needs so many hats…so I’ve learned to test, experiment, and meddle with crazy ideas; it’s how the octopus and the infant from 2011 came about!

My latest experiment involves making a miniature plush, stuffed doll with oodles of cute factor. What better way to test my idea out than to use my favorite Sci-Fi character, Alfred Bester!

On a completely unrelated topic, I made myself a Star Trek badge. It’s very “glam” with all the sparkles on it.

Happy New Year!

2012 was quite a creative year for me. I hope this year proves to be the same and much, much more!

December was just as busy as November was since I had to put all my holiday present making on hold for NaNo (normally I pace myself throughout the entire two months). With that in mind, where’s a look at what I did in December!

I painted these pictures for my mother and sisters:

This was for another relative:

More relatives!
I did this for an online Secret Santa I joined:
A sketch I did just for fun in celebration of the holidays. Do not put a Santa hat on Talia Winters!
And, finally, something for me! I finished this one on 31 December:
As you can see, December was a busy month for me!

End of Month October and November

November’s art
I didn’t have time to do anything special or to do any digital art, just rough sketches.

Even aliens have nightmares. Delenn of Babylon 5 is having a bad dream of what may or may not come to pass.
After a long, emotional day, Talia Winters from Babylon 5 retires to her quarters and thinks about her beloved Jason Ironheart.
Also, crayons are still awesome.

It. Is. Done.

I was taken hostage during the month of November by NaNo, and I am extremely excited to report that I did it! I hit the 50K mark! All that writing was not for naught 😉

Now that the time crunch is over with, I am less busy and can update and play on the Internet with my usual vigor. I still have about 20 to 30K to go before the actual novel is finished, but now that November is over, I can do it at my leisure!

Today is December 1st, so bring on the home-made Christmas presents and the continuation of my progress on getting my children’s book printed out!

I will update October and November’s End of Month post shortly.

That time when NaNo ate my life!

Wait…that’s right now!

I honestly did not know what I was getting myself into when I decided to sign up for NaNoWriMo this year. I did not think it would consume everything! Even though I had made myself an outline that details every single chapter, it is still a lot of work!

NaNo time:

Weekdays
Get home from work
Cook and eat dinner
Do the dishes
Two hours of NaNo (or more)
Two hours to relax (if that)
Bed time!

Weekends
Random stuff in the morning
Write all afternoon while taking breaks to get a few household things done
Random stuff at night

This is both a rewarding and learning experience. I know I’ll thank myself for putting myself through this when I’m done!

Here is a snapshot of when I was still trying to figure out my NaNo schedule and was still writing some of it out by hand. I blurred the words for obvious reasons.

I know I still need to upload October’s art! I’m going to do that at the end of November when NaNo is out of the way…I still need to accomplish something artistic so that November will at least have something to upload on here.

The Children’s Book
I’ve finished formatting it, and I’ve also finished designing the cover. All I need to do is to make an account on the self publisher’s website and follow the steps to get myself a proof copy! I may wait until I’m done with NaNo so that I can give this my full attention. As I said before, I didn’t know what I was getting myself into when I signed up for it this year.
