It’s nearing the close of April. We are almost 5 months into 2012 now, and it is looking to be a good year so far. I’m still trying to find the perfect schedule for my illustrations so that I can complete this project in a timely manner. I’ve finished 7 so far (yes, I know I need to update my little counter!). I have an extra day off coming in May (in addition to Memorial Day) that I plan to use wisely. The last time I had a scheduled day off, I finished 2 illustrations in one day!
I cannot wait until I’m ready to scan and format my project. It will be worth all the hard work to finally hold my own, illustrated children’s book in my hands!
Art in April
** Ariel is (c) Studio Drowtales inc 2001-2012
This was done as an entry into an art contest hosted by Drowtales, a web comic I read daily. I didn’t win, but I felt that the contest had an extremely friendly atmosphere. Because it was so welcoming, I am going to participate if they host more contests similar to this one!
“Speed Draw 130” – 100% digital
I was sick last weekend, and I didn’t want my precious 2 days off to be a complete waste, so I decided to try out the “speed paint” fad. I don’t think 1 hour and 30 minutes is very speedy, but here is the result. It was cut corner city! I am happy with how it turned out though.
Blogger
It looks like blogger has updated their posting process. While I love the ease of shrinking images now, I don’t love the fact that the text is wrapped with them. I had to hit “Enter” a bunch of times because using HTML to fix the issue wasn’t working. Hopefully the blog looks exactly like the preview on all computers *crosses fingers*
Books read in 2012
Ratings are out of five stars, *****
The Bell Jar by Plath, Sylvia – ***
The Iron Heel by London, Jack – *** (It gets 3 because it was written in the early 1900s, and the author was depicting the future. I felt he deserved at least a 3 for that, but as far as the story goes? It gets **)
The Hunger Games by Collins, Suzanne – ***
Catching Fire by Collins, Suzanne – ***
Mockingjay by Collins, Suzanne – ***
I give The Hunger Games trilogy a **** as a whole.
